Simple Makeup Tips And Essentials For Wedding

Below are some handy makeup tips and essentials to achieve the best results on your D-day.

Cleansing The Face

The Indian wedding culture tends to use bold and bright colors in the marriage ceremonies. To get a longer lasting look, start by cleansing your face well then patting it dry to ensure that there is no dirt or oil on the face.

Base Preparation

Moisturize your face for a smooth appearance and an even skin tone. Working extensively on the face alone, do not forget to moisturize with fingertips by rubbing well in a circular and gentle motion. You could even use a tinted moisturizer.

Face Fix UP

  • Use a primer two minutes after moisturizing, and blend it well. This will help to keep your concealer and foundation intact, and keeps the makeup in place for long hours. Sephora and MAC are among the best brands for primers.
  • It is equally important to use a concealer to cover up spots or marks. You can also brighten up your skin tone with the help of a colored concealer like yellow or green to cover the reddish blemishes on the skin.
  • Apply a foundation that does not have SPF in it and blend it well with a makeup brush or a sponge. Start from the center of the face, apply the foundation on other areas of the face and blend it outwards. A matte finish foundation would be a good option as well. A foundation with SPF will give your face an undesirable ‘flashy’ effect in photographs, so it’s better to avoid it.
  • For a glowing face, use highlighter on higher planes on your face, like cheekbones, nose bridge, forehead center, Cupid’s bow. You can choose highlighters from Colorbar, Sephora, or MAC.

Bronzing Makeup Tips

A Bronzer is commonly used to heavily contour the face and make it look chiseled and sharp in the photographs.

Take a blush brush, prefer the angular one, and apply with strokes on to the sides of the chin, but not on the center. Repeat the same on sides of the forehead, and both sides along the nose bone, but not on the top. Suck your cheeks in and apply some bronzer on the top part of the contours, near to the ears, in light strokes. Just make sure it is not along the entire length of the contour.

Blushing Tips

Take some blush on a blush brush and pat off the excess. Hold a steady smile and apply it in a circular motion, blending it upwards towards the ears.

Eyeshadow Makeup Tips

Indian brides love golden eye makeup since it goes well with the red, fuchsia, or green lehengas, ghagras, and heavy sarees. So, if you want to play it safe, gold is the color to go with. Paint your eyelids with a gold or peachy pink shade, and use some charcoal shade on the exterior lid contours to give a subtle smoky effect. You can get this look by using a brown shade on the inner crease. You can also use golden eyeshadow instead of silver for the brow bones and vice versa.

Using an eyebrow pencil or an angular brush dipped in brow powder for the eyebrows is best.

Easy Eyeliner Tips

Do not research with brown or blueliners on your wedding day. It’s better to use a plain, simple jet-black liner, prefer the one that’s waterproof. Draw a thick line on the top then a heavy line with a strong kajal on the lower eyelid, smudge it till the outer corner for that extra oomph.

Use a volume-enhancing mascara. Mascaras with curled brushes are great for awesome, curly lashes.

Take some false lashes to emphasize and open up your eyes, making them look twinkling. Remember to take some trials before the wedding date just to ensure there is no room for error on the wedding day.

Luscious Lipstick Tips

If you have thin or small lips, then line your lips along the natural line with a shade that almost matches your normal skin tone. For plump lips, line the natural lip line with a darker shade. Wear a lipstick that goes with the whole look.

  • Go maroon or dark red for bigger and fuller lips and peach pink or light pink for thin lips.
  • Use lip plumper instead of a lip gloss for thin lips, whereas use a simple lip-gloss for bigger lips, focussed more on the center of the lip.
The bride-to-be should also follow some simple makeup rules and geared up to wow the crowd. Here are the tips:

Moderation Is The Key

The main idea for perfect bridal makeup is to bring out the best features, and at the same time, keep the overall look simple, yet gorgeous. Since Indian brides are covered with jewelry and wear heavy dresses, it is best to keep the makeup as natural as it can be.

Explain Your Needs To The Bridal Makeup Artist

It’s always better to hire a bridal makeup artist, make sure you explain what you need clearly. It will help you get the look that you want. You should always arrange a trial before the wedding day.

Get A Glowing Skin

Among all Indian bridal makeup tips, making your skin to look healthy and glowing on the wedding day is most important. Simply taking care of it a week before the D-day is not sufficient. The skin needs time to get nourishment and treatments. Overdoing the treatments may lead to further damage. Make time for yourself and pamper in the treatments two months or at least six weeks prior to the wedding day. Get regular pedicures and manicures.

Exfoliate The Skin

Exfoliate your skin to take off the dead skin cells. But remember to do it only twice or thrice a week. Over exfoliation may over dry your skin.

Protect The Skin Against The Sun

Never go out without a sunscreen, reapply every two to three hours to keep the skin damage free. This is a must in the list of bridal makeup tips.

Ward Off Your Stress Hormones

You need to relax and reject off all the stress. It’s difficult to practice but stress takes a toll on your skin, making it look dull.
